Book Review

"The Undomestic Goddess" is the story of Samantha Sweeting, a 29 year old topnotch attorney. On the same day she is to be named partner in one of London's most prestige law firms; she also discovers she is has made a mistake that will cost her firm millions of dollars, not to mention end her high powered fast track career.

In a haze of confusion she flees the offices and ends up on a train headed to a new life. Samantha takes a job working as a housekeeper; having absolutely no domestic skill whatsoever, she stumbles her way through, cleaning, cooking and a new found love.

This book it total brain candy. A friend of mine shared this term with me a couple of years ago, and it's the perfect word to describe this book. There is nothing in this book to make you think. I almost stopped reading it after the first few chapters, but after trudging through I found some of the scene entertaining, and in the end I found myself enjoying the book.

Since I only gave my last book 4 stars, I have to give this book 2 stars. It is no where near the book "Snow Falling Lightly" is; although I still recommend it if your looking for a no brainer at the end of a long day!

Beeping

There is a toy or electric device on our top level that beeps every now and than. Every day when I am putting on my make up I hear it. It's a total mystery to me of what it could be, but on some level I find it sort of freaky.

The Orange Killer Bunnies

Those of you who know me best know of my obsession with Killer Bunnies. It is in my opinion one of the GREATEST games EVER created. And even though I thought it couldn't get any better, the introduction to the orange deck has done just that.

The orange deck introduces pawns and a new market that allows you to buy back your slain bunnies. The pawns allow you to re-roll the dice and play pawn cards more than once, thus moving the game along faster, thus leading to the discovery of who is in possession of the Magic Carrot!

Book Review

Since reading in one of my favorite things to do, I thought I would start my own little book review when I finish reading a book. (I hope you'll share some of your favorite books with me in return).

Spencer bought me 'Light on Snow" by Anita Shreve for Christmas this year. This is the third book of hers I've read; the others being "The Pilots Wife," and "Sea Glass". Both of which I have enjoyed.

Light on Snow is told through the point of view of 12 years old Nikki Dillon. After the tragic death of her mother and baby sister, Clara, her grief stricken father leaves his architectural job in New York and move Nikki to an isolated farmhouse just outside a rural town in New Hampshire. On their walk in the woods one snowy day in December, Nikki and her dad come across a crying newborn baby wrapped in a sleeping bag and left in the snow to die.

I very much enjoyed this book and found myself wanting to finish the book as quickly as possible. I had to know what happens to baby Doris and why her parent would abandon her in such a fashion. The ending of the book although satisfying was not the way I wanted it to end; I'm a happily ever after sort of gal.

I would recommend this book to all giving it

The Mighty Puzzler

One of Jarom's very favorite activities to do is Puzzles. Every day he gets out his big bin of puzzles and goes to work. It is fun to do the puzzles with him and watch him persist in trying to find the right piece. Yesterday when I was shopping at Wal-Mart I lucked out and found a Diego magnetic fridge puzzle. He loves it, and so do I. Yesterday he started yelling at me, saw his puzzle on the fridge and went to complete it; abruptly ending the yelling.

One of the greatest parts about serving in young women's is that I get to prepare lessons that allow me to find wonderful things on the internet. My lesson on Sunday was about drawing closer to Jesus Christ and I found this: Its Prophets and Apostles sharing their testimony of Jesus. If you have 18 minutes, listen to it. It's amazing.

Christmas Fun

I know many of you have been checking my blog daily to see all the wonderfully fun things we did over the Christmas Holidays; I was having some trouble getting the slide show to work, but here it is!

We all had such a fun time being in Alberta and spending time with our families. The kids had a magnificent time playing with their cousins, riding on the quad, skating on the pond, playing hockey, going bowling and to movies. So much fun!

One new thing we did this year that we are going to have to turn into a tradition was; Silly String in the stockings. My mom had to work Christmas morning until 11 so we saved our Silly String until she walked in the door. Then everyone attacked her; we were all covered by the time our cans were empty. Nolan and Jarom loved it.
