There is a toy or electric device on our top level that beeps every now and than. Every day when I am putting on my make up I hear it. It's a total mystery to me of what it could be, but on some level I find it sort of freaky.

I have a similar problem where I wake up at night and see REDRUM written on the wall or blood coming out of our apartment elevator, or look at the laptop and someone's written:
"All Thailand and no California makes Kaddi a dull girl."
I had an annoying beeping in an appartment in Salt lake, turns out the battery in the smoke detector was low but the way it was positioned in the room, it sounded like it was coming from everywhere. oooohhhh..... freaky....
